The next-best thing to a crystal ball for a clear picture of Bryan/College Station’s economic forecast for 2014 is a ticket to the B/CS Chamber of Commerce Economic Outlook Conference on January 22.
This annual event gathers leaders from local business, governance and Texas A&M University so they can collectively illuminate how different sectors of the economy including new businesses and real estate trends are likely to change in the coming year.
This year’s conference, A Community In Motion, will feature three panels designed to describe what changes will be happening at the city, county and university levels and what those changes mean for businesses and citizens. The keynote speakers, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive and ESPN’s Justin Connolly, will share how Texas A&M’s entry into the SEC and ESPN’s August launch of the new SEC Network will further catapult the Aggies into the national spotlight.
The Economic Outlook Conference preview article that leads off this issue of Insite is designed to answer the question, “Why would I devote a half-day to attending an economic outlook conference?” The answer lies in how much you trust crystal balls and how interested you are in how changes on the horizon for Bryan/College Station will impact your personal 2014 economy.
