An isolated outbreak of the flu, involving approximately 37 college students, has been reported to the Brazos County Health Department.

The flu is a respiratory illness that can be easily spread.  Health department officials encourage individuals to take the following precautions to prevent the spread of flu.

  • Get your flu shot
  • Cover your mouth and nose
  • Clean your hands
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are already sick
  • If you get sick, stay home
  • If you feel sick, call your doctor

Everyone six months of age and older is encouraged to get a flu shot.  Flu shots are available at local pharmacies and at the Beutal Health Center at Texas A&M University.
