Come to Rocket Day, fly a rocket, and register for Cub Scouting on Oct. 1!
Arrowmoon Rocket Day 2016 is a Scouting event that gives new Cub Scouts an introduction to Scouting and potential Cub Scouts – 1st–5th grade boys – an opportunity to join.
More than 200 Scouts and their families are expected to attend this event.
New Cub Scouts and those looking to join will meet at The Museum of the American G.I., 19124 Hwy 6, College Station, to build and fly a rocket. (Bringing your old rocket? Bring your own engine)
Set Up begins 8:30am. Registration is from 9 to 10am, and the rockets will be launched from 10am to 12pm.
Other activities include various scouting demonstrations.
Visitors may wish to attend the Museum of the American G.I. On Oct. 1 the museum has a discounted entry fee of $3 per person. Learn more by visiting www.americangimuseum.org or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Prospective scouts can get information about area units, how to join, and the fun they will have in Scouting.
With their paid registration of $6 (additional $3 adds a copy of Boys Life magazine) New Cub Scouts will receive a rocket to assemble and launch on site, while the supply of rockets last.
Rockets will be safely launched with help from the EEE Rocket Club of Houston and the TAMU Sounding Rocketry team. Andy Berger, Alex Pages, and their large group of volunteer rocket “launch technicians” will work with Cub Scouts to launch their rockets.
Dr. Joe Kerwin, NASA Astronaut and Apollo 13 CAPCOM will serve as our Honorary Launch Director.
