The volunteers that make up the local nonprofit Bubba Moore Memorial Group are hard at work planning what will likely be the organization’s biggest golf tournament in its 12-year history. This year’s tournament is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Phillips Event Center. The funds raised will benefit numerous non profits in Bryan College Station.
“Bubba was larger than life. He had a heart as big as the state of Texas. When we had the vision to start this nonprofit after his death in 2004, no one ever dreamt it would grow to the size it is today and have the impact it has on our community today. I know that Bubba is looking down on us – beaming with pride,” says Nancy Moore, widow of Bubba Moore and chair of the BMMG board of directors.
Since its founding in 2004, BMMG has donated more than $570,000 to a variety of local nonprofits including Twin City Mission, Project Unity, Health for All, Still Creek Ranch, Hospice Brazos Valley, the Ronald McDonald House of B/CS, Scotty’s House, Junction 505, and more.
“We are focused solely on our community. Every cent of the money raised by the foundation goes to local organizations and families in the Brazos Valley,” says BMMG President Cheryl Chamblee.
The 2017 BMMG Board of Directors includes Nancy Moore, chair; Ashley Moore, vice chair; Cheryl Chamblee, president; Danielle Fifer, vice president; Abby Petroski, secretary; Rose Selman, treasurer; and at large members Bill Alford, Joe Carver, Lisa Howard, Monique Howell, Larry Jones, Faye Lane, and Angella Lyles.
This year’s tournament is sponsored by BB&T, Brazos Bingo, CHI St. Joseph Health, Michelob Ultra, Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial, Ruffino Meats, Service Insurance Group, Inc., Stylecraft Builders, and UBEO Business Services.
