USA Book News, the premier online magazine featuring mainstream and independent publishing houses, announced the winners and finalists of the 2015 USA Best Books Awards. Awards were presented for titles published in 2013-2015.
Among the Finalists was Heartbroken: Healing from the Loss of a Spouse, by Hospice Brazos Valley’s Gary Roe. Heartbroken was chosen for this honor from more than 2000 titles from mainstream and independent publishers. Award winners traversed the publishing landscape, including Random House, Penguin, HarperOne, Harper Collins, William Morrow, McGraw-Hill, American Cancer Society, The White House Historical Association, and hundreds of independent houses contributed to this year’s outstanding competition.
Written from Roe’s extensive experience as a pastor and hospice chaplain, Heartbroken is an honest, straightforward, and practical look at the reality of grief, what it means to lose a mate, and how one heals from such a loss.
“I’m thrilled by this award,” Roe says. “I’m thankful the USA Best Book Award Committee recognizes the pain and grief that many of us carry, and has honored Heartbroken’s attempt to address and heal some of that pain.”
Throughout the years, Roe has worked with hundreds of spouses in the midst of grief and loss. “Heartbroken is really their story – their pain, struggles, triumphs, and victories,” he says. “My goal is to get the book into the hands that need it, and I need a lot of help to do that.”
Heartbroken is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, other online distributors, and at bookstores. The book is in both paperback and e-book formats. Along with other grief recovery resources, it’s also available at Hospice Brazos Valley or through the author’s website at www.garyroe.com.
Roe is a writer, speaker, and chaplain with Hospice Brazos Valley. He is the author of three other books, including Surviving the Holidays Without You. Visit www.garyroe.com or contact him at (979) 821-2266 or email@example.com.
