This award has been bestowed upon the B/CS Community on behalf of KBB by KTB for “preserving a clean and beautiful environment in the Great State of Texas to be enjoyed now and by future generations.” The award is given to communities scoring in the top 10% of applicants of the GCAA, one of the most coveted annual environmental and community improvement honors in Texas.

Communities submitted materials to one of 10 population categories and judges chose the winners based on achievements in seven environmental and community improvement areas: community leadership and coordination, education, public awareness, litter prevention and cleanup, litter law and illegal dumping enforcement, beautification and community improvement, and solid waste management.

The GCAA program has recognized outstanding communities since 1969, with TxDOT providing landscaping awards since 1985.  “Unity Plaza” located on Texas Avenue across from Café Eccell is a previous GCAA project coordinated by the cities, KBB, KTB and TxDOT.

Keep Brazos Beautiful’s mission is to educate and engage Brazos County Citizens to keep its community clean, green and beautiful. As an award winning affiliate of both Keep Texas Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful, KBB was founded on the ideal that a clean and beautiful community helps to improve the economic vitality, health, safety, and quality of life for everyone. KBB’s programs center on educating and building partnerships and volunteer opportunities with citizens, civic organizations, businesses, and governmental agencies, to eliminate litter, minimize waste, recycle, and improve our community’s appearance with the natural beauty of trees, flowers, landscaping, and green spaces.

Keep Texas Beautiful, a statewide grassroots environmental and community improvement nonprofit, strives to educate and engage Texans to take responsibility for improving their community environment. KTB and its more than 360 affiliates work with government, businesses, civic groups and volunteers to ensure that every Texan has the opportunity to make Texas the cleanest, most beautiful state in the nation.
