Voices For Children is hosting its annual 12 Days of Christmas fundraiser December 1–12, with the goal of raising $12,000. The fundraiser generates funds needed to support its Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program.
“The holidays mean ‘family’ to many of us and what better way to make an impact than to provide a voice for a child in the foster care system who needs a safe, permanent, and nurturing home,” says VFC Executive Director Liana Lowey. “Your gift of $250 helps us train a new Court Appointed Special Advocate for an abused or neglected child. Regardless of the size of the donation, every dollar given to the agency is stretched: each staff works with 24 volunteers who in turn advocate for 65 children. Since we are a volunteer-driven agency, every dollar donated is multiplied exponentially.”
Donations can be made securely on-line via the VFC website at www.vfcbrazos.org or can be mailed or brought to the VFC office located at 115 N. Main in Downtown Bryan. “This is a wonderful opportunity to make a donation in honor of a loved one in lieu of gifts at the holidays,” suggested Lowey. “A card to your loved one indicating the donation will be mailed or e-mailed at your request.”
In FY 2014, Voices For Children’s 105 CASA volunteers spent just under 7,000 hours advocating for 228 abused and neglected children in Brazos, Burleson and Grimes counties.
