Charitable giving helps the community.

The Local Employee Committee of the State Employee Charitable Campaign is accepting applications from local charitable organizations for the 2016 Brazos Valley Area SECC Campaign through United Way of the Brazos Valley, Local Campaign Manager. The application deadline for an organization in the Brazos Valley campaign area, serving Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, and Washington counties, is Friday, March 25, before 5pm.

Applications are accepted from charitable organizations from across the seven-county region. A local charitable organization is defined as one that: (A) provides direct or indirect health and human services; and (B) is accessible to state employees in the local campaign area by maintaining: (i) a publicly identified office with a professional or volunteer staff within the local campaign area that is open at least 20 hours a week during normal working hours; and (ii) a locally listed telephone number. Charities must meet all requirements to be eligible for the State Employee Charitable Campaign.

The State Employee Charitable Campaign was created by legislation in 1993 and allows employees of State agencies, junior and community colleges, and universities throughout Texas the benefit of making charitable gifts through an annual workplace campaign. The SECC is the only statutorily authorized workplace campaign for State agency and higher education employees. In 2015, over $8 million was pledged to SECC charities statewide.
