The Bryan Rotary Club and Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce presented the Newman 10 Business Performance Awards at the annual awards luncheon on June 10. The event was sponsored by Tom Light Chevrolet and included keynote speaker Congressman Bill Flores, who spoke about the importance of small businesses, and the steps Washington is taking to support their efforts.
The business performance awards are given to the businesses with the highest sales growth for the year. This year’s winners included United Solutions, Hotel Solutions Inc., Aerofit Health & Fitness Centers, Cedar Lane, TechBundle LP, Texas Concrete Design, CEO Ect., Cortiers Real Estate, Schaefer Custom Homes, and Exosent Engineering, LLC in first with a sales growth of 238.70%.
Copy Corner took home this year’s Anco Insurance Award for Lifetime Business Achievement, which is given to a business that exemplifies longevity, customer service, and community service. With more than 20 years of service in the Brazos Valley, Copy Corner owner Larry Hodges says the advice he was given when he first started out still holds true today: “Find something you are really good at or something you really love and work hard at it, and the rest will take care of its self.”
The Commercialization Rising star Award, which honors entrepreneurial spirit, went to Essentium Materials founded in 2013 with the idea of turning waste into state-of-the-art nanocomposite. “Ultimately, our company is about transforming nature’s waste in order to transform people’s lives. We want our engineering decisions to make the world a better place,” say founders Dr. Elisa Guzman Teipel and Blake Teipel.
Congratulations to this year’s winners for their achievements and impact on the community.
