Through September 11, 365 Deals for U (www.365DealsforU.com) is donating 10 percent of all sales to CARPOOL (Caring Aggies R Protecting Over Our Lives).

“CARPOOL is a very deserving organization that puts forth a tremendous effort keeping the streets of our community safe,” says David Flash, president of 365 Deals for U.

CARPOOL gives free rides to anyone – students, community residents or visitors – who calls (979) 693-9905 from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays during the spring and fall semesters. The confidential rides are often, but not always, to get intoxicated partiers home safely. CARPOOL coordinators stress that anyone can call for a ride: whether you need to ditch a creepy date (it happens a few times every semester); if you don't have a designated driver for the evening; or you get stuck at the grocery store after the shuttle bus stops running (it's happened).

The confidential rides are often, but not always, to get intoxicated partiers home safely. CARPOOL coordinators stress that anyone can call for a ride: whether you need to ditch a creepy date (it happens a few times every semester); if you don’t have a designated driver for the evening; or you get stuck at the grocery store after the shuttle bus stops running (it’s happened). It’s free, non-judgemental and anonymous. As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization, CARPOOL also relies on donations to provide these sometimes life-saving rides.

“During our first week in business last March, we raised $600 for CARPOOL with only 3,700 subscribers to the site,” says Flash. “With more than 11,000 subscribers now, and growing every day, I believe we could raise significantly more.” 365DealsForU.com regularly gives back to the community with revenue-sharing deals that benefit local organizations. “Since starting up in March of 2011, we’ve raised more than $2,000 for nonprofits,” says Flash.

Anyone can sign up at www.365DealsforU.com to receive notices via email about 50% to 90% off local dining, shopping and services. Anyone choosing the daily deal may redeem their discounted voucher for up to six months after purchase. “They can also refer friends with a personalized $5 off link and get paid $5 in free deals for every friend that uses their link to buy a deal,” Flash say, passing the savings — and fundraising for CARPOOL this week — along.

Businesses running deals during this promotional week are Project: Yogurt, Caffe Capri, Midas, Stover Bros. Cafe, Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Fabric Care Cleaners.

One of the deals that will make CARPOOLERs honk and cool down is a coupon that buys $8 worth of frozen yogurt for only $4 at Project: Yogurt, 725 E. Villa Maria Road, Suite 2900, in Bryan. “Last I counted, we had 60 toppings,” says Audrianne Doucet, store owner and a student at Texas A&M University. Pop Tarts, powdered doughnuts, fruits, peanut butter sauce: customers can pile those goodies on their cones because the yogurt is all-natural and low fat, even with flavors like Birthday Cake, Cheesecake, Dreamy Chocolate, Acai Berry and So Espresso. In addition to frozen yogurt being all-natural, Doucet reminds patrons that Project: Yogurt’s mission to do good – the company itself regularly donates to nonprofits – making it “just natural” to help out CARPOOL this week.

Over at Caffe Capri, where the creative Italian menu will inspire patrons to buy a $7 voucher that buys $15 of good eating, owner Rami Cerone, Class of ’95, notes that this week’s deal will also helps Cafe Capri celebrate 16 years in the community. “CARPOOL is a great organization to have in this community,” says Cerone.
