The Directors of the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley has announced the appointment of Patricia W. Gerling as its next President and CEO.
For the past 35 years, Gerling has held several administrative positions within The Texas A&M University System while serving in the offices of the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor for Budgets and Human Resources, Vice Chancellor and Dean for Agriculture and Life Sciences, and the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Prior to her retirement from Texas A&M in early June, Gerling was Director of Faculty Administration and College Initiatives in the Dean’s Office of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.
An Austin-native and first-generation college graduate, Patricia graduated magna cum laude from St. Edward’s University with a bachelor of business administration. She obtained a master in educational administration from Texas A&M University in 2004.

Earlier this year when we learned of Patricia’s interest in the position, the Board felt that her lifelong commitment to the Brazos Valley, coupled with her professional and volunteer experiences, were a natural fit for the Foundation and for furthering philanthropy throughout Bryan/College Station and the surrounding counties within the Brazos Valley.”
Gerling is a passionate volunteer with a rich history of community involvement having served on the boards and board committees for the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Brazos Valley, The Arts Council of the Brazos Valley, the Prenatal Clinic, Brazos Valley Symphony Society, Friends Association of the Symphony, Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Leadership Women [formerly Foundation for Women’s Resources], and numerous band and parent-teacher organizations. She is a past president of the Brazos County A&M Mothers’ Club and also served on the board of the Federation of A&M Mothers’ Clubs. A 1989 Leadership Brazos and 1995 Leadership Texas graduate, Patricia was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 2000 by the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce and is a 2006 Girl Scout Woman of Distinction. She currently serves as President of the Pink Alliance, the Brazos Valley’s advocate for breast health and cancer support, and co-leads the Alliance’s breast cancer support group.
Gerling comments, “I am extremely excited to join the Foundation and intend to move the Foundation into a new period of growth and sustainability, while building on the hallmarks of careful stewardship..”
