With the New Year in full swing, have you been looking for the extra motivation to get moving and get healthy? Join in with the community and walk, jog, swim, bike, garden, dance, and shoot hoops for eight weeks to move a whopping 830 miles across the great state of Texas! Brazos County has been “Walking Across Texas” together for over fifteen years. This years’ Walk Across Texas!
kickoff will take place Saturday, February 23rd at 10:00 am in Post Oak Mall near the JC Penny entrance. Here, participants will walk the first mile together and get moving. A team captain meeting will immediately follow the kick off event. You also have the opportunity to purchase a t-shirt.
To get started, form a team of up to eight participants of any age, with the urge to get moving, and keep a log of each individual’s physical activity for the duration of the eight-week event. Your designated team captain will log in your team’s activity in the Walk Across Texas! website each week. There are lots of great prizes to win for the most inspirational team member, dirtiest shoes, and much more!
Celebrate at the three major events: Kick off, Recharge, and Last Mile Celebration for motivation, prizes and more than a little camaraderie! Your mission, should you choose to accept it: get moving, work together, have fun, and Walk Across Texas! For more information visit www.brazoswat.com or http://walkacrosstexas.com.tamu.edu.
