Commenting on Coach Schaefer’s continuing partnership with the tournament, Tracy Frank, executive director of Hope says, “Vic Schaefer’s commitment to support Hope through this event is a blessing and an honor.  Vic, Holly and the kids have a deep love for this community and they are excited to be a part of a ministry serving those facing crisis pregnancies.”

Coach Schaefer has made his selection for this year’s honoree. “I am delighted to have Jackie Sherrill as our honoree for the 2012 Vic Schaefer Coaches of Character Golf Classic benefiting Hope Pregnancy Center,” Schaefer says. “We all know the profound impact he made during his coaching career at Texas A&M and Mississippi State. He continues to impact young lives through his charity work, especially with the 12th Man Kick-Off Team Foundation. He made a great impact on me two years ago during my son Logan’s battle following a wakeboarding injury, and his generosity toward my family is something I will forever cherish and be grateful for.”

Commenting on Coach Schaefer’s selection, Tracy Frank, executive director of Hope says, “Coach Sherrill’s off the field activities are not as well known as they should be. Even before Hope’s inception 27 years ago, Coach was volunteering his time and resources working with terminally ill children in hospitals across the country. More recently, he has been involved with Bill Glass Prison Ministries to reach those behind bars with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Certainly sharing the love of Christ with those needing hope and healing and those needing redemption falls right in line with the values of Hope Pregnancy Center.”

Sherrill is a legend in the college football coaching ranks. Last August he was inducted into the Mississippi State University Sports Hall of Fame to go along with his inclusion in the Texas A&M and University of Pittsburgh shrines. He has also been selected to the Cotton, Gator and Independence Bowl halls of fame.

The tournament will be held on Monday, October 1, at the Pebble Creek Country Club with registration opening at 8:30am followed by a shotgun start at 10am. The entry fee is $175 per player. Several corporate sponsorship opportunities are available and they serve as an effective way to support Hope through a fun and entertaining event.
