The City of Bryan has almost completed the year-long process of updating the Comprehensive Plan and Parks Master Plan. These two documents have been nicknamed ‘Blueprint 2040’ because of their impact on the next 20+ years of development within the City of Bryan. All citizens and stakeholders are invited to attend the “Big Reveal” to view and discuss the proposed plan on August 17, from 5pm to 8pm at the Brazos Center located at 3232 Briarcrest Drive.
The Comprehensive Plan is a long-term guide for the City that defines community values, identifies community opportunities and weaknesses, and provides direction on not only how but where the community should grow, develop, and redevelop. The Parks Master Plan provides guidance on current as well as future parks and recreation facilities, including ways to enhance existing green space and how to adequately plan for future needs.
A large component of the planning process includes collaboration with community members by seeking citizen input and working with business owners, developers, and City staff to determine existing conditions and identify areas for improvement. The proposed draft includes the input collected during public engagement and highlights recommendations as well as actions pertaining to various City policies and programs. The “Big Reveal” is a come-and-go style event that includes finger foods, refreshments, and interactive booths describing the various chapters of ‘Blueprint 2040.’ You are invited to come and view the proposed draft, provide valuable feedback, and inquire about the City of Bryan’s future.
