Surviving & Thriving is getting ready to celebrate ten years of surviving and thriving in the Brazos Valley with the annual luncheon on October 8. In the last nine years, more than $249,000 has been raised to help cancer patients and their loved ones by providing life-saving equipment and quality-of-life services.
This year’s speakers are Leslie Mouton, breast cancer survivor and KSAT anchor in San Antonio; and Erin Fleener, MD, The Cancer Clinic. Registration for the October 8 luncheon at the College Station Hilton is $50; the luncheon begins at 11:30am. For reservations, visit survivingandthriving.org or call (979) 731-1231.
In 2003, St. Joseph Regional Health Center partnered with the help of an enthusiastic committee to create the first ever Surviving & Thriving Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon and Fundraiser. The goal for that first event was to appropriately recognize local breast cancer survivors and provide some real benefit to breast cancer patients in our community. Monies raised through sponsorships, ticket sales, raffle tickets and specialty items has provided direct support to the American Cancer Society Brazos Valley and St. Joseph Regional Cancer Services.
Though the event has grown by leaps and bounds over the last ten years, the committee continues to stay focused on that same goal – to provide resources and support to local breast cancer patients, and of course to recognize survivors! To date, Surviving & Thriving has raised over $249,000. Founding sponsors Suddenlink and St. Joseph Regional Health Center, as well as the many other sponsors, have made this success possible.
