Race2Respond will hold it’s 2nd annual 5K Race on Saturday, April 29. This 5K event is a fun fellowship for all ages and backgrounds to come together for a great cause.

Race2Respond, Inc. was created to provide charitable support through production of quality running events in benefit of American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Their mission is to positively impact lives and leave a legacy of giving and love by running with purpose.

Nearly 200 times a day, the Red Cross helps a family affected by natural disaster. Red Cross disaster relief focuses on meeting people’s immediate emergency needs caused by disaster. The organization provides shelter, food, and physical and emotional health needs. In addition, they provide blood and blood products to disaster victims, handle inquiries from concerned family outside the disaster area, and help victims access many other resources available to them. The Red Cross urges communities to join together and help rebuild faith, hope, courage, and strength in the face of disaster.

In 2016, Red Cross responded to the disasters happening across the globe, including the United States. In the U.S. alone, Red Cross provided a tremendous amount of support to unprecedented flooding in the Midwest and South, blizzards on the East coast, Hurricane Matthew relief in the Southeast, and wildfires in Tennessee. Race2Respond aims to make a difference in the lives of those affected by these natural disasters in Texas communities and beyond.

This year Race2Respond, Inc. proudly supports the American Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter and their tireless and selfless efforts to change the world in the wake of disasters. Proceeds from this year’s race will go to American Red Cross Heart of Texas Chapter in support of the Brazos Valley Team 2017 Home Fire Campaign.

After the race there will be pizza, homemade cookies provided by The Anthony Kitchen, water, and bananas for participants to enjoy after they cross the finish line. There will be a fun photo backdrop and race pictures will be posted to the 5K’s Facebook page after the race, along with a RDM Pros DJ to keep everyone rocking and running!

It is $15 to walk and $25 to run (the prices will increase to $25 to walk & $35 to run on April 1).
