There will be a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at the entrance of the Brazos County Courthouse on Thursday, July 2, at 12:00pm. Members of the Brazos County Criminal Defense Bar will take turns reading aloud the Declaration in an effort to emphasize its meaning and significance.

The event is part of a statewide effort that currently takes place in over half of the counties in Texas and continues to grow each year. The reading will be a significant way to begin observance of our great country, recognize the sacrifices made to make our freedom possible and to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy as Americans over this Independence Day holiday.

This will be the 3rd local annual public reading, which has been headed up in Brazos County by Shane Phelps, with The Law Office of Shane Phelps, P.C.
