The blood drive hosted by the Brazos Valley chapter of Muslims for Life on September 3 is part of a nationwide event. The Muslim Community of Brazos Valley “Muslims for Peace” is hosting a blood drive Saturday to honor and commemorate the victims of 9/11 by collecting blood donations that will save lives.

September 3 beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing until 4 p.m., the blood drive will be conducted at Easy Shop, 1910 Labrisa Drive in Bryan (77807). The blood drive is being held in conjunction with the “Commit for Life” program of The Blood Center of Brazos Valley.

A 20-year resident of Bryan, event coordinator Ahmad Kamal Rahman explains that this is not a ‘Muslim only’ event and says he hopes all Brazos Valley residents will join this noble cause of bringing people from all races, religions and walks of life together to honor the thousands of victims of 9/11 by giving life to those who need a blood transfusion.

Everyone who participates will receive a free lunch and free fountain drinks from Easy Shop and one lucky blood donor will win a $50 gasoline coupon that may be redeemed at Easy Shop.

This nationwide event has been planned on the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, in remembrance of the lives lost on that day, by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA. The “Muslims for Life” campaign reaches across its 71 chapters in about 50 cities across the nation, with the goal to collect 10,000 bags of blood and save 30,000 lives.
