July is National Parks and Recreation Month and the Bryan Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating with family activities all month long, including their annual Moonlight Movie Series.

The Goonies will kick off the series on July 7, followed by Paddington on July 14, and Surf’s up on July 21. The night will begin at 6:30pm with kids activities and concessions, before starting the movie at dusk. It is encouraged and recommended that everyone bring blankets, chairs, picnics, and other outdoor necessities including bug spray.

The Bryan Animal Center will be at each of the events promoting “Dog Days of Summer” discounted adoptions. All dog and puppy adoptions are just $10 from June 30 to August 1.

In addition, the City of Bryan will be hosting the Park and Recreation Month Photo Contest which will run from July 1-31. Photographers of all ages are invited to enter their best images taken at any park and recreation facility in Bryan. The winner will receive a $100 prepaid Visa gift card and will have their photo on display in the municipal building lobby through the summer.
