College Station’s Veterans Park and Athletic Complex is among 550 parks across the country that will benefit from Macy’s “Heart Your Park” program this spring.

From March 7-31, customers at Macy’s Post Oak Mall location can donate $1 or more to go toward improvements at Veterans Park. Macy’s will match the total customer donation up to $250,000.

The program is part of Macy’s “Secret Garden” campaign, which is designed to raise awareness and dollars for local parks. In partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association, Macy’s stores have each selected a park or green space to support in their community.

The 150-acre park includes multiple athletic fields, the American Pavilion, trails, a playground, and is home to the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial.

“This is an incredible honor,” College Station Parks and Recreation Director David Schmitz said. “Macy’s has stepped forward to help communities with something that touches people in a positive way. We’re ecstatic they’ve chosen Veterans Park for this donation.”

Macy’s “Secret Garden” spring campaign will include garden-inspired merchandise, special promotions and events. For more information, visit macys.com/secretgarden. For a full list of parks benefiting from Macy’s “Heart Your Park,” visit macys.com/parks.
