Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas has announced the appointment of Katy Scott as the Director of Community Engagement Brazos Valley.

As Director of Community Engagement Brazos Valley, Katy will be responsible for developing and implementing RMHC CTX services in the Brazos Valley. She will focus on cultivating relationships with hospital partners, McDonald’s owner/operators and the community in order to establish Ronald McDonald Family Rooms to support area families with hospitalized children.

Prior to joining RMHC CTX, Katy was the Community Director at March of Dimes Texas in Bryan/College Station. She has previous experience in real estate marketing, economic development, and owned a bed and breakfast.

Katy and her husband, Erik, moved to Aggieland 13 years ago to raise a family. They have a personal connection to RMHC, having stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Houston on two separate occasions when their children were born.

Katy received her Bachelor of Science in Communications with a minor in Interior Design from the University of Texas at Austin.

“I am very pleased to welcome Katy to our team,” comments Carolyn Schwarz, chief executive officer of RMHC CTX. “Katy joins us with not only a wealth of nonprofit experience but a personal story when she and her husband stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Houston. As a respected member of the Brazos Valley community, she is a tremendous asset to help establish RMHC CTX services for families with critically ill or injured children.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. Through its Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room programs, RMHC Central Texas provides a nurturing “home-away-from-home” that keeps families together as their critically ill or injured children receive treatment in the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House is a 30-guest room, nurturing home-like environment and the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are located within three Austin hospitals.
