The “I Love Shoes, Too” drive helps victims of domestic violence put their best foot forward on their road to recovery.

The Sassy Shoe Social kicked off the “I Love Shoes, Too” drive Saturday, collecting new and gently used shoes to benefit Phoebe’s Home. Shoes, gift cards for home goods, and donations will be collected through February 28.

Since its founding in 2010 by Sheree Boegner, the Sassy Shoe Social has grown from a small gathering for the American Business Women’s Association to a community-wide event to benefit Phoebe’s Home.

Phoebe’s Home is an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence. Phoebe’s Home provides those in need with include nutritional meals, laundry facilities, daily needs, transportation, and recreational activities.

This year’s Social has already raised $2,500. Even more is expected to be raised through donations, pledges, and silent auctions items held throughout the month of February.

The offices for Phoebe’s Home – Twin City Mission are located at 2505 S College Avenue in Bryan, hours are 9am-5pm, to drop off shoes. Just let the staff know what the shoes are for know the shoes.
