The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History will present a live painted lady butterfly release at 10am Saturday, July 28. Butterflies will be pre-sold for $20 each prior to the event. All proceeds benefit the Museum and will be used to match a $5,000 grant awarded to the Museum from Denise Fries of Fries Financial Services as part of her 50th Birthday Celebration in cooperation with the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley.
Come to the Museum at 9am to check in and enjoy refreshments, and take this opportunity to view the museum’s new Observation Bee Hive in the Museum’s Discovery Room. A few minutes before 10am, live butterflies will be passed out to participants and released on the front lawn of the museum.
Butterflies are limited, so don’t delay! Butterflies will also be sold on the day of the event, if any are left. Don’t miss a chance to honor Denise Fries for all of her many contributions to our community, to support the only natural history museum in a 100-mile radius, and to make a special wish as you release your butterfly.
Whoever purchases the most butterflies (more than one may be purchased) also wins the honor of naming the Queen Bee in our new Observation Bee Hive!
