Piney Woods Fine Arts Association will host Bill Haley, Jr. and The Comets at the Crockett Civic Center, Saturday, April 2, at 7:30pm.
This high-energy five-piece combo will perform a set of songs first recorded at the dawn of Rock ’n’ Roll in the early- and mid- 1950s. This “Rock ‘N’ Roll History Show” features Bill Haley, Jr. “(We’re Gonna) Rock Around the Clock,” which became a number one record in July 1955 and signaled the birth of rock ‘n’ roll. They are going to take you back to the 1950s, not just with the big hits that people know, such as ‘’Shake, Rattle and Roll’’ and ‘’See you Later, Alligator,’’ but some of the earlier music like ‘‘Crazy Man Crazy.’’ ‘‘Crazy Man Crazy’’ was the first rock and roll song to be televised nationally when it was used on the soundtrack for a 1953 television play starring James Dean.
