Local jazz pianist Greg Tivis will release his new CD “I Got it Bad,” featuring Kelsey Taylor and Steve Carr, at the Hilton Hotel & Conference Center on October 12 at 8pm in the intimate setting of the Oakwood Ballroom.
Attendees will listen to songs from the Great American Songbook—what many people call today’s jazz standards—with original songs from Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Gershwin, and Ella Fitzgerald.
The jazz trio of Greg Tivis, Kelsey Taylor, and Steve Carr will perform renditions of songs such as Almost Like Being in Love, Lush Life and Body and Soul.
“I’ve been in the studio many times, and have recorded for many album projects, but ‘I Got it Bad’ is the first time I’ve recorded a musical project just for the musical thrill and gratification,” Tivis says.
“We were fortunate enough to have Kelsey performing with us at Veritas Wine and Bistro for almost three years before she left us to attend law school in Dallas,” Tivis says. “This album commemorates those magical nights at Veritas, and I can guarantee this will be one of the most powerful and emotionally moving concerts you’ll ever attend.”
Admission is $10 at the door with open seating on a first-come, first-serve basis. Doors and cash bar will open at 7pm. To find out more about this production, call (979) 695-0211 or visit www.gregtivis.com
