On Oct. 25 at 7pm, the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum welcomes Dr. Alireza Talebpour, Assistant Professor in the Zachry Department of Engineering and lead engineer on Texas A&M University’s very own autonomous car. His students have developed a driverless car, with the help of a donated Kia from Sterling Auto Group. After decades of appearing in science fiction, unmanned vehicles are very real – and being built at Texas A&M.

Dr. Talebpour will discuss the capabilities that we have today, what we’ll be facing just around the corner and what the challenges we face as we transition from regular to automated driving. How will these cars communicate with each other? Are they really safe? Whether or not we’re ready for it, fully automated vehicles are going to be operating on roadways in the very near future.

The event is free but seating is limited. Reservations are strongly recommended. A reception will follow. To register for the event, click here or email reservations.bush@nara.gov.
