Take an opportunity to honor those who have helped to provide the Brazos Valley with better health care. The 2014 Health Heroes Luncheon benefits Health For All, a nonprofit health care clinic serving Brazos Valley community members that are uninsured and ineligible for government assistance.
“Our mission is to provide affordable access. We want to keep people from going to the emergency room for primary care. We save money for the taxpayers and insured,” says Elizabeth Dickey, the executive director at Health For All. At Health For All, most of the patients earn below $1,500 per month, making it very difficult to afford medical care. These individuals often go without needed medical attention or emergency room visits that are very expensive. Health For All seeks to provide those services at very low prices.
Founded in 1987 by Drs. Karim and Asha Haji, Health For All has been a community resource that has greatly benefited the Brazos Valley. The clinic provides help to more than 3,000 patients a year and saves the local taxpayers $6.5 million in expenditures. The clinic is run by a small staff and depends on the donations and volunteer time from members of the Brazos Valley community.
The Health Heroes Luncheon will be a major fundraiser for the clinic. Dickey explains that this is their opportunity to “highlight and celebrate the folks that make this possible, the doctors that come to Health For All after their day jobs. They give above and beyond to serve our mission. We want to honor the people who give back to our community.”
The Health Hero Awards will be presented at the luncheon to organizations and members of the community who embody excellence while helping raise health awareness. Dr. Nancy W. Dickey, who served as the first female president of the American Medical Association, will present the keynote speech before the recognition of the 2014 Heath Heroes.
The 2014 Health Heroes Luncheon will take place at the Hilton College Station from 11:30am – 1:00pm on Thursday, April 24. Individual tickets are $50. Sponsorships are available, ranging from $5,000 for two tables at the luncheon and company logos appearing on PSAs, down to the $500 level for two tickets to the luncheon. Register online at hlth4all.org by April 14 and support Health For All as they continue to serve the local community.
